God created stupidity, apparently

Ever heard of the Creation Museum in Kentucky, USA? If not, I’ll summarise: it’s a testament to the ability of mankind to completely delude itself in the face of overwhelming reason. For those of us not wanting to give US$20 to these nutbars (plus, you know, the A$2000 airfare) but want to point and laugh anyway, someone has been kind enough to go and collect some choice photographs to enlighten the heathens (even Christians who dare to think that faith and science might be compatible). Be entertained, be afraid, be thankful it’s in the US.

argh, don’t be entertained! this “creation museum” lends it a credibility it should never have. This place needs to be demolished for sanity and reason to prevail.

    Well, it is America…

Technically speaking, it has a right to be there that I can’t argue with – it was opened and maintained entirely with private funds. It’s the outright lies that pretend they’re truth that get me. The concept of obeying without question that this museum encourages makes me want to break something.

Breaking the museum would be a great start!

Nathan, I agree with your comment… I’m about as atheist as they come, but there’s also another side to it…

Breaking the museum would achieve nothing – even if every religious artefact was destroyed, there would still be millions upon millions of blindly religious people.

It’s actually a fairly common conversation starter here in the US. There are massive parts of the country that are very fanatical – and it really pisses off the rest of the population (yes, not all americans are stupid… most, but not all).

Religion has its place – it holds the masses in one piece, and as evil as it all may be, i’d argue that it’s the reason why the US is such an economic / military / whatever superpower… Unfortunately it’s hard to have both power and reason… Too much variation between people on what “reason” actually is…
